Double Review- April and May Ipsy 2015- LAST MONTHS

Hi everyone! So sadly my streak with Ipsy has ended.  The last few months have been disappointing,  and I feel as if I keep getting the same item over and over. With that said, here are the double reviews of April and May Ipsy 2015.

x[ April Ipsy 2015 ]x
Contents:

JulieG- Nail Color in Damsel
A pretty hot pink color.  I don't use nail polish, so this will be given to a friend or to my mother.

Klorane- Dry shampoo with oat milk natural tint
I tried this a few times and didn't see any drastic result.  This left a streak of white powder in my hair, which I assume is the tint.  It smells fine but I would not repurchase.

theBalm Cosmetics- NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single in Flirty
What a gorgeous color this is! It's a brownish purple shimmer eyeshadow.  I am ashamed to admit it but I have not fully played with it.  It's too cute to mess up!

MicaBeauty- Eye primer
Basic eyeshadow primer.  Nothing too special.  I didn't notice anything dramatic about it.

Starlooks- Satin Finish Lip gloss in Cuddle
I'm pretty sure I received a starlooks lip gloss before in another bag. This looks like a copper brown-neutral type of color.

Bonus Item:  NYX Cosmetics Butter lipstick in - Susie Pop
I kind of love this lipstick.  It's a nice hot pink that you can layer up to make it more bolder and almost neon.  I love how smooth this lipstick is, and doesn't go into the creases of my lips.

All the items together.
Opened eyeshadow and primer.

x[ May Ipsy 2015 ]x
Contents:
Briogeo- Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray
I have not touched this.  I have received so much hair products over the past few months, it's getting hard to review them all when I can't put too much things in it, due to psoriasis in my scalp.

Urban Decay- 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil in Ozone (+ sample of Revolution high color lipgloss)
This lip pencil goes on clear and will help prevent feathering (when the lipstick runs around and smudges everywhere).  This is always great to have on hand, especially when dealing with darker bold colors such as purple or red.  I have not tried any of the sample glosses.

BellaPierre Cosmetics- Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Ebony
This has become my go-to eyeliner.  This is a nice gel eyeliner in a charcoal-black looking color. You can use it in the waterline or on the eyelid and it won't smudge nor flake.  It can last a few hours on your eyes without looking faded, even in extreme hot humid weather.  The only downside for me is that the pencil tip is super soft and breaks off easily.

AMIE- Morning Dew Matte- Finish Mositurizer
I have not tried this.

Luxie Beauty - Tapered Blending Eye brush 205
This is such an amazing brush.  Usually I would never say this because I don't see the 'big deal' about brushes.  But after trying this for weeks, and feeling it...it has become my go-to eyeshadow brush.  The handle is a nice smoothie/pastel looking pink, whereas the bristles are super soft to the touch.  When I use this to blend my eyeshadow, it doesn't pull or prick at my eyes (compared to the cheap $1 ones you can find).

Overall:  These were my final months of Ipsy.  I cancelled it because I was getting the same type of thing over and over, and most of them will never be used.  On the plus side, I did managed to find a few favorite items within these last two months, but I don't think it was worth all that money.

Quick Ipsy Review (November & December 2014 + January 2015)

Hi everyone! Wow, I haven't posted in such a long time- but I do have a reason! I have been spending time with some family in a different area, and have been getting back into the art of drawing.

In any case, here are some quick reviews on my Ipsy subscription during the months of November, December, and finally this month of January. I have to say, my excitement for Ipsy has dropped substantially.

November Ipsy 2014
A photo posted by Jacqueline (@jaqinator) on
Items included:
Marc Anthony - Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray
Be a bombshell - eye base in Submissive
Elizabth Mott- You're so fine waterproof liquid eyeliner
J.Cat Beauty- Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion
Temptu- S/B Highlighter in Pink Pearl
* Swatches of the lip paint and the eye-base included. Keep in mind, the base took 4 swatches to show up that wait. The lip paint is one little dot.

I have to say, I was pretty pleased with Novembers bag.  The eye base was a winner for me- I love using gold eyeshadows a lot, so this base was super helpful. I have also found that it was nice to just use on its own, to add a bit of depth on my natural eyelidsIt had a nice and smooth consistency however I did notice that it took a lot of swipes to get much of any color.  I suppose that would be considered a good thing since it's a base.

My next favorite was the J.Cat Beauty lip paint in Red potion. The color leans more on the vampy burgundy red color, and kind of reminds me of the Hikari lipstick we got in a previous bag. One biggest flaw I found in this lip paint was that it applies patchy on your lips and will settle on any dry skin your lips may have. Exfoliating prior to applying this helped a bit for me. This product is not completely matte.

My last favorite was the Elizabeth Mott eyeliner. I recently got to try it during Christmas time, and it was simply amazing.  There wasn't too much of a sheen on it, but it wasn't a pure matte eyeliner either. There were tiny bits of glitter, which again was not too noticeable. The brush is a fine tip point that made using it easier, and provided a better grip to make a sharper wing. The image below shows me wearing it, don't mind how splotchy it looks since I kept rubbing my eyes, ha. Which is another point- it takes a very strong hand to completely smudge or wipe it off, and I was out in the rain with this, and it did not smear around.

I don't have much of an opinion over the highlighter and hairspray- products I don't use at all.

December Ipsy 2014
A photo posted by Jacqueline (@jaqinator) on

Items included
Sexy Hair - Blow dry spray
Beauty without Cruelty- Facial cleanser
Cailyn Cosmetics- Just mineral eye polish in Orchid
NYX- Butter lip balm in Marshmallow
tarte- lights, camera, lashes 4-in-1 mascara

I was not pleased at all with the bag of December. The lip balm is from NYX and is always highly praised as being the best in regards to their lip products. Initially, I was excited and pumped to try it out, till I saw the color I received.  I received mines in 'Marhmallow', which is an orange nude color.  Orange or brownish lip colors do not match my skin tone and makes me appear sickly. The eye polish is extremely sheer and I'm not quite sure how to get more product out- but this is perhaps a fault in myself, rather than the product.  I don't use hair sprays nor mascara. The facial cleanser I have not tried yet.

January Ipsy 2015
A photo posted by Jacqueline (@jaqinator) on
Items included:
Elizabeth Mott- All over shadow brush
Nourish Organic- Renewing eye cream
BellaPierre- Shimmer Powder in Excite
Pacifica- Natural mineral coconut eye shadow in Treasure
MALIN+GOETZ- Mojito Lip balm

My January Ipsy for 2015! I'm severely tempted to just cancel the subscription. I have dozens of lip balms and bronze/gold eye shadows already. The shimmer powder doesn't show up at all on my pasty white skin and eye cream is just that. Eye cream.  It will be put to use, but I don't really like the Nourish Organic brand. Their products never seem to really work for me.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Pacifica eyeshadow.  One swipe and it shows, and it is a super nice smooth feeling. You are able to build up with it after 3 swipes. Compared to the other eyeshadow we got from this brand, this one is leagues better.

x-x
There you have it, have any of you decided to drop Ipsy? I feel they are no longer trying anymore. What a let down.

Ipsy March Review + Swatches

Hello Everyone! Welcome to another Jaqtastic Review! Today I will be reviewing the March Ipsy Bag. This review will be longer than usual because I had quite a lot to say about some of the products. (: Enjoy!

I  p s y   M a r c h

The bag chosen for the month of March is one that is exclusively made for Ipsy. It was designed by a San Francisco artist by the name Klari Reis. It is said that this design is supposed to represent San Francisco and the ipsy headquarters.  Honestly, I wasn't too excited by it initially when I first saw it as a spoiler online.  However, as the days passed with it in my hands, I am growing fond of it.

It is charming in its own way, and it does remind me of the many paintings my sister and one of my best friends use to draw many times in high school.

Inside, the bag is a nice royal blue color. Not the best material out there, and overall the bag feels kind of like plastic, but it is unique.  On the card, it says Ipsy will provide some opportunities for other artists to create future bags. How fun!
Contents of the bag

As you can see, there were only four items for the march bag.  It was a bit of a let down since I was used to getting five, even six, items for some months. Still, I was pretty excited that the items chosen for me were right up my alley.

Ipsy February Review [Image Heavy]

Hellooo everyone! Welcome to another Jaqtastic Review! Today, I will be reviewing the Ipsy February Bag- which, let me tell you, was full of stinky products and some that just left me wondering, "AGAIN!?". Ahh. Anyways, on to this.

I p s y   F e b r u a r y
The bag itself is a bright hot pink, with leopard printed spots inside. It's cute, but not something I would bring with me outdoors. Honestly, it just reminded me of those little girly bags I used to have to carry my toys in as a child. Such memories!
Everything fit perfectly snug in bag!

January PopSugar Must Have Box Review

Hello everyone! Welcome to another Jaqtastic Review.  Today, I will be reviewing the January Box of Popsugar, which I bought as a one time thing to try out.

This was shipped out by FedEx Smartpost, and for anyone unfamiliar with this...it is horrid. It took almost 2 weeks for delivery, and for the majority of time it was listed as 'N/A for Delivery'. Yikes. But after tearing through the box, I was amazed at how huge everything was (after seeing so many spoilers and being kind of 'meh' over it.)

Pretty inside.

6 Full Sized Products.

Ipsy January Review

Hello Everyone! Welcome to another Jaqtastic Review! Today I will be reviewing the January bag of Ipsy.  Now, I'm not sure if anyone has come across some of the forums, but many people did not seem pleased by this months contents. Whether it be because of the ridiculously small samples, or because the bag smelled of an extreme nasty plastic scent. Either way, here is my review!

 I p s y   J a n u a r y
Theme: 19 Reasons
The bag itself is a baby sky blue color, with pictures of products lined across as if it were a makeup city. The bag does not smell pleasant, in fact, I would advice putting your face anywhere near it.

Ipsy November Bag Review

Hello welcome to another Jaqtastic Review! Today I will be reviewing the November Ipsy Bag.

N o v e m b e r   I p s y   B a g
                                                               Theme: Glam it Up!

Novembers bag wasn't exactly what I expected.  A part of me felt uninterested in what was being given out, however I was crossing my fingers in getting a colored eyeliner and some form of lip product.  The bag itself was a bit on the odd side.  It sparkled and shone under every type of light- whether it be dimmed or bright.

The bag itself was gold on the outside, with a diamond design to it.  Inside, a bright bold pink etched the inner contents of the bag.  I decided to give this bag to my mother, since it matched her more.

Taste Trunk Review

Hello everyone! Welcome to another Jaqtastic Reviews.  Recently I was able to snag a Buy 1 Get 1 free deal from Taste Trunk. Being the food lover that I am, I snagged the deal, in hopes that I can surprise my father with it.  Surprisingly, this came two days earlier than expected!

T a s t e   T r u n k
I ordered the Gourmet Trunk, in hopes that there would be some sauces that my father can use for cooking.  Boy, was he delighted by what he found! It was packaged quite  nicely.  Both boxes were in a usps box, encased together.  Upon opening the box, everything was covered in black paper, and tied with a pretty purple string (which later became a toy for my two cats).   There was also an envelope in the box.

What's in the bag?

It reminded me of back in the very old days, beyond the time when I was born. Perhaps that of the ages of my grandparents.  The designs of an olden newspaper was a very delightful thing to see. It made me smile.

Note cards with recipe ideas and info about products.

Ipsy December Review

Hello everyone! Welcome to another Jaqtastic Review! So sorry for the delays in my posting! I am having trouble with my hard drive for my laptop, so everything will not be posted in order.  Anyway, in case I haven't told you guys, I have recently cancelled most of my subscription services due to lack of funds. However, I have decided to keep Ipsy. It's just TOO good to give up.  With that said here is the...

                               D e c e m b e r   I p s y   R e v i e w

                                        Theme this month: Celebration!
The bag this month was absolutely gorgeous.  The black studded bag was sturdy, and inside was a lovely dark shade of red.  While the bag was not exactly as festive as the theme claimed it to be, it is perfect for most every day use and situations.  This will be given to my mother as a gift.

The contents in the bag were as follow.

Love with Food- March 2013 Review (Finally!)

Hello everyone! I wasn't able to get the June Love with Food Box, unfortunately, so I decided to finally get to review this- yay! I have to admit, this box looked pretty amazing- not sure how I managed to not devour everything immediately.

 Theme: Classics with a Twist

Contents in the box:

Dark Chocolate Orange Good Fortune Cookie from Emily's Chocolates
My opinion: Have not touched this at all.  Perhaps one day. One long and curious day. I probably will not enjoy this since I don't like my chocolate tasting fruity.

Granola from Ola! Foods
My opinion: One word: Yum! These remind me of oatmeal or oats.  Great with yogurt, or just simply eaten on its own.  Great treat! Sadly, this was gone so fast that I ended up craving more. A must have!

Chocolate Covered Wasabi Peas from Chocwasabi
My opinion: I was scared of these when I first saw it. Recently got to try it...and well, not a fan! The chocolate part is pretty good, however, once you bite into the wasabi part, a slight tingly feeling spreads onto your tongue and gums.  Other than that, the taste is pretty bland.

Fruit & Veggie Juice from Kids 50
My opinion: Tasted like the Gerber Carrot & Apple Juice. Not a very pleasant taste. However, this was a big hit towards my friend's son. So that's a plus!

Salted Caramel Baked Corn from Cosmos Creations
My opinion: This was one of my first sought out items in the box. Even now, I'm still confused as to what I was tasting.  It tastes extremely salty, with a burnt caramel taste.  The texture is soft and is made of puffed corn.  It's not bad, but neither is it the best.  I kind of was expecting something like Caramel Popcorn- like Cracker Jacks. Try not to eat these all in one go.

Green Tea Infuser from Revolution Tea
My opinion: Ehh..I don't like tea. Especially Green Tea.  This was given to my tea lovin friend.

Wholesome Snacks from Mary's Gone Crackers
My opinion: Gross. Simply Gross. There is no flavor, other than a burnt aftertaste. It tastes a bit like cardboard- if cardboard was edible!

Wild Berry Flat Fruit from Wacky Apple
My opinion: I loved these! They are a healthier version akin to Fruit Rollups.  They are not too chewy, and are not overly sweet.  A berry taste is most noticeable after chewing around a bit.

Overall: This box was packed full, however the items weren't the best tasting.  There were some favorites, and some hated, but it was worth it. (Especially since I receive most of my boxes with discount codes- yay!).

The goodies!

Now...on to the contents! Massive amounts of pictures ahead- be warn.

 •   Anastasia's Mini Clear Brow Gel
My opinion:
I'm not sure how to feel about this.  I have NEVER heard of a brow gel, and I have no idea how I would use it.  From what I have gathered, it is to be used to keep the eyebrow hair in place, so it won't stray all over the place. Hm. This might actually be helpful for someone like me, whose eyebrows sometimes like straying all over the place.

Rating: ???

• Pacifica's Island Vanilla Perfume Roll-On
My opinion: Um. I LOVE this. The smell is just absolutely amazing and yummy. It is not too strong, and the smell does not consist of an overpowering Vanilla scent.

The scent reminds me of the perfume: Simply Because from Avon.  Love it!

Rating: ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ (4 Stars)
Zoya Nail Polish- Color in Gie Gie

• Zoya's Nail Polish - Gie Gie

My opinion: This is an adorable creme pink color! Unfortunately, I do not use nail polish, and I don't plan on using it anytime soon. On the plus side, my friend LOVES nail polish, and LOVES anything pink, so this will go to her.

Rating: ✩ ✩ ✩ (3 Stars- Mostly for the beautiful color!)

Mirabella SHEER Lipstick in Pixie color

•  Mirabella's Colour Sheers Lipstick - Pixie

My opinion: Favorite item in the bag!! I LOVE this color.  The lipstick looks like a coral color- an orange/red mix. However, because it is SHEER, you will need to apply at least 2 or 3 layers to get a full blast of color.

My favorite thing about this lipstick is that it's not too overwhelmingly bright. Now, don't get me wrong. I LOVE wearing a bright red lipstick to give off an edgy and bold look.  But it's nice having a color that is both bright, but natural looking at the same time.  Not to mention that is applies on smoothly.
Me trying on the lipstick! Pretty color, yes?

                Rating: ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ (5 Stars)

 •  Yaby's Concealer Refills- Buff Color
My Opinion: Well...another product that I most likely won't use.  I never wear concealer, that and this looks a tad bit too dark for me. Probably will give this off to my mother, as it is more closer to her skin color.

Rating: ???

There you have it! The contents I received for the May's Glam Bag! Keep in mind, there were many other items we were able to get.  Still, I am rather satisfied on what I got, and am looking to get the June Bag! My Birthday Month ;)

Love with Food- May 2013 Review

Hello Everyone! I'm back, and officially a graduate of College with my Associate degree in Humanities and Social Sciences for Psychology (: Yay! I am now free to catch up and review everything!

With that said, here is my review of the Love with Food May Box!

                                                  Theme: Happy Mother's Day!
Love with Food- May Box!
Replacement Box I received. Only difference: Blueberry Almond Crunch.

Items in box:

May's Mystery Item  by Mrs. May's Naturals - Got it in the Coconut Almond Flavor & Blueberry Almond
My opinion:  These are fantastic! Great on Yogurt, or to simply munch on as it is.  They are almost like granola- pretty yummy. Do note that the are not too sweet, and hold a nutty aftertaste.

•Authentic Almond Biscotti  by Biscotti Bari
My opinion: My mother and my friend think these are the best. I have to say, I agree! The Almond flavor gives it a nice and comforting taste.  Great with a hot cup of coffee (or tea).

•All-Natural Strawberry Preserves  by Bonne Maman
My opinion: Received this in a Goodies Company Box, and still have not tried it.  I'm assuming it's like jam, so it'll most likely will taste good. Hopefully.  I admit, I am a bit tempted to try this in vanilla yogurt- Yikes!

•Hand Drip Single-Origin Coffee  by Caffe Borsa
My opinion: Is it possible to adore coffee? I am a HUGE fan of coffee, and I knew, the instant I saw this, that I would just immediately fall in love with it. Mmm. More please? (:

•Latte Candy  by Bali's Best
My opinion: Pretty good! They have a nice creamy milky filling in the center, whereas the outer candy part gives it the coffee taste- a true latte flavoring in the making. Not something I would have constantly, for I prefer drinking my coffee, than eating it!

• "Great Full" Vegan Sweet Potato Cookie  by The Cookie Department
My opinion: Whoa. Just Whoa.  This is amazing and super yummy!! This tastes like an oatmeal cookie with tiny pieces of cranberries in it. The cookie is soft, while the cranberry gives it a chewy taste.  Very Filling- and very much recommended.

•Original Cajun Seasoning Blend  by Slap Ya Mama
My opinion: I LOVE spicy seasoning! This reminds me of the Creole Seasoning I received in a Crave box- was simply magnificent. It tastes amazing mixed into rice, soups (Mmm! Especially in chicken flavored soup), and meats!

•Tomato Crunch  by Snapz Crisps
My opinion:   Have not tried these. This is the only item in the box that I'm hesitating on trying.  I'm not a fan of tomatoes, and I don't really enjoy dried out food. Heard it tastes good in a sandwich or salad, so we'll see!

Overall, I LOVED this Month's box!! Chances are, I will try to stick with them again for next month (My birthday month). Here's hoping it'll be a good one as well!

Love With Food- Feb Box 2013 Review

Hello everyone! So, I know I'm a bit late on this, but here is my review on the Love with Food February Box! Valentines Edition. Dun Dun duuuuuun.
So starting with the February month, Love with Food changed their packaging- It is now left as it is, but inside a plastic encasing. Pretty cool!

What was inside:
[o] Jer's Squares -Original
Haven't tried these but I'm not a big fan of chocolate with peanut butter. Still, heard these were pretty good!

[o] Truffle Pigs by Hagensborg Chocolates  Caramel & Peanut Butter
Hmm. These Truffle Pigs were in a previous Love with Food box- though lasts time it was just milk chocolate. The Truffle Pigs are nothing but average chocolates. Not the best, but not the worst. They're a pretty good treat. Now with that said, the caramel one was amazing. I mean, caramel and chocolate is ALWAYS a winning combination. The peanut butter truffle was okay. Again, I don't really like peanut butter mixed with chocolate.

[o] Beanfield's Pico de Gallo Bean & Rice Chips
Yum! I was a bit hesitant on trying these, but these are really good! They have a spice to it, that isn't really spicy, but gives it a strong peppery type of taste.  It has a nice grain aftertaste.
[o] Millie's Savory Teas Tomato Basil Sipping Broth
Have NOT used this. First of all, I am not really fond of tea, and second of all...a sipping broth in the from of a tea bag? Hm. If it actually tastes like a broth, then I'm all for it. However, other review suggests that it tastes too watery, or just odd.
[o] Bobbysue's Nuts! Original Nuts
Ugh. I hate these. These were in a previous box, and it was just horrible. It's a heavy mixture of sweet meet spice. But I only tasted the sweet.
[o] Funny Face Flavored Dried Cranberries
I believe I got the strawberry flavored- haven't tried them yet, but my mother claimed they were yummy.
[o] Donsuemor Chocolate Madeleine
Whoa. Super soft, with a fluffy, and moist texture. Pretty good, especially with coffee! I was seriously tempted to order a whole box of these.
[o] Nektar Honey Crystals
Eh.. I don't drink tea, and I prefer regular sugar for my coffee. Wasn't used.

Overall this box was pretty good for me! I only paid 2$ due to a discount, so yay.  Worth the value.
